The coast of Trafalgar is located in a strategic enclave in the migratory movement of birds between Europe and Africa, and between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Of the 524 species described in the  “Birds in Europe” publication, approximately 43%, 226 birds are seen in the area more or less.

And it is that millions of birds pass annually through the Straits of Gibraltar and Tarifa. Therefore, ornithology lovers have in this area a great place to enjoy their hobby.

Two moments of utmost importance in the migration of birds in the Strait are spring and autumn. During the spring season many soaring birds return to their places of origin in Europe for breeding. In autumn, however, the phenomenon is reversed. The birds fly from north to south.
